About us

Welcome to Northern Duck Productions!

Northern Duck Productions is a bold and ambitious theatre company creating accessible, high-quality live entertainment with a strong Northern identity at its heart. While the company itself is newly established, the team behind it brings decades of combined experience across producing, venue management, technical theatre, touring, community engagement, and performance.

Founded by Megan Wilson and Jazmine Franks, Northern Duck Productions was created to champion exciting, professional productions that remain affordable and welcoming to audiences from all backgrounds. Our work ranges from large-scale pantomimes and family entertainment to new writing, community-led projects, and socially engaged theatre that shines a light on underrepresented voices and untold stories.

Proudly based in Bradford and working closely with Bradford Playhouse, we are passionate about building strong creative partnerships with venues, artists, schools, and communities across the North and beyond. Collaboration sits at the centre of everything we do, helping us create theatre that is imaginative, inclusive, and deeply rooted in the people and places around us.

As a female-led company with strong working-class roots, Northern Duck Productions is driven by a belief that theatre should be for everyone — whether you are a lifelong theatre lover or discovering live performance for the very first time.

With a growing slate of productions, workshops, and creative projects in development, Northern Duck Productions is quickly establishing itself as an exciting new voice in regional theatre — bringing audiences entertaining, meaningful, and memorable experiences all year round.

Meet The Team

Megan Wilson

Director

Since age 16, Meg’s journey in theatre began behind a follow spot, evolving from a youthful fascination into a lifelong passion. From backstage to stage management, her career spans diverse roles, now as the producer and company director of Purple Stage Theatres, showcasing her versatility and dedication.

Meg’s expertise encompasses backstage operations, front-of-house coordination, and production management, reflecting a wealth of experience and a keen understanding of theatre production. As the director of Northern Duck Productions, Meg infuses each project with a hands-on, caring touch, tailoring shows for all ages with an artistic philosophy centered on creating great art filled with a delightful sense of fun.

Offstage, Meg’s vibrant and fun-loving personality shines. When not immersed in theatre, she enjoys quality time with Alfie, her border collie and fellow duck enthusiast. This blend of professional expertise and personal warmth establishes Meg as the driving force behind the magic of Northern Duck Productions.

Jazmine Franks

As a visionary director with a rich Northern acting background, Jaz brings creativity and adventure to the stage.

Renowned for her role as Esther Bloom in Hollyoaks and other notable appearances, Jaz’s journey is a testament to her mark on British television. In her role as director, she combines artistic flair with a keen sense of adventure, crafting productions that entertain and leave a lasting impact.

Beyond the footlights, Jaz, a free spirit, finds joy in storytelling, whether directing productions or exploring landscapes in her camper van. Her multifaceted life, from script reading to weight training, adds depth to her artistic journey.

In July, Jaz welcomed a new adventure into her life with the arrival of her baby.

“The stage is a canvas where stories come alive, and in each performance, we paint a unique masterpiece of emotions, magic, and unforgettable moments. Theatre is not just a production; it’s a journey, an adventure waiting to unfold.”
